FAQ: I was instructed by Missouri Retirement to report 0.01 as the hours worked for retirees and non-members if they are getting paid while school is out due to COVID-19; how do I set this up?

To report 0.01 as the hours worked for retirees (those with an R Wage Type for Non-Member Retiree) or non-members (those with an X Wage Type for Non-Member), complete one of the following, depending on how the employee is getting paid:

  • If the employee is paid with a contract, bring up the employee’s record in the Employee File and click the Wages tab.  Then bring up the employee’s contract and enter 0.01 in the Hours Per Payroll field; and save the changes.  When calculating a payroll, 0.01 will then be reflected as the total number of hours worked in the pay period for the employee for that contract pay code.
  • If the employee is paid with a unit pay code, when making the entry in the Pay Period Entries batch for the employee, be sure to enter 0.01 in the Hours field.

If needed, when generating the retirement report, the number of hours worked for an employee with an R Wage Type for Non-Member Retiree or X Wage Type for Non-Member can be adjusted.  To adjust the hours worked, complete the following:

  • Click the View/Edit Data tab on the Missouri Retirement Report screen.
  • Click the plus sign (+) in the box in front of the applicable employee.
  • Click the plus sign (+) in the box in front of the appropriate wage type and position code record.
  • Then for the appropriate pay code record, click in the Hours field (column) and key the new number of hours worked.
  • Click the Save button to save changes.
