Training Tidbit: Illinois SSP Reporting Reminder
As you are aware, the Illinois Teachers Retirement System now requires the Supplemental Savings Plan (SSP) information (per Employer Bulletin FY22-22) to be reported each pay period for payrolls with pay period begin dates on or after March 1, 2022. The SSP information is reported using the new employer portal called Gemini, which was launched in September 2021.
If your district has not yet filed the regular retirement contributions using Gemini for the months of July 2021 through the current month, the SSP reporting will need to be done manually. Then once the reporting of the regular retirement contributions is current (all months from July 2021 through the current month have been filed), you will be able to complete the Deductions tab in the Illinois Monthly Teachers Retirement Report option in the School Accounting System with the SSP deduction(s) and start utilizing the School Accounting System to create the necessary files to upload to Gemini for both the regular retirement contributions and the SSP contributions.
For districts who have not yet filed regular retirement contributions using Gemini, complete the Illinois Monthly Teachers Retirement Report Setup Procedures for each employee who earns teachers retirement in order to begin using the Illinois Monthly Teachers Retirement Report option to generate the report file for submission with the new portal.
