Training Tidbit: Microsoft to End Support of Windows 7 and Server 2008

Reminder, Microsoft® will be ending support for Windows 7 and Server 2008 on January 14, 2020.  Microsoft has communicated there will no longer be new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical updates after that date.  In addition to the vulnerabilities and security risks running an unpatched operating system impose, new features implemented in the School Accounting System may no longer be compatible with the Windows 7 and Server 2008 operating systems.

If your workstation currently runs either of these operating systems, an alert will appear on the main School Accounting System screen stating “Operating System Upgrade Required”.  If the alert appears, consult your Technology Coordinator and develop a plan now to move to a newer version of the Windows Server operating system and have a plan in place to upgrade the machines no later than January 2020.  Click here to view our current system recommendations and pass them along to your Technology Coordinator.  The second page of the recommendations includes specifications for customers looking to take advantage of the cloud option to completely offload the district’s hardware responsibility.  If you have any concerns in regards to your current hardware configuration or would like to speak with someone about the system recommendations, contact our Customer Support Department.
