Training Tidbit: Hours Per Day Field vs. Hours Per Payroll Field

Do you know the difference with the Hours Per Day field and the Hours Per Payroll field on the Wages screen in the Employee File?

The Hours Per Day and Hours Per Payroll fields are both available to track hours worked for contract employees, but only one or the other would be completed (both fields cannot be completed for a contract pay code).

Hours Per Day Field:

The Hours Per Day field is used to enter the total number of hours the employee works per day for the contract. When calculating a payroll, the number entered in this field is then multiplied by the number entered in the Days This Pay Period field for the payroll calculation batch to reflect the total number of hours worked in the pay period for the employee for the particular pay code.

Hours Per Payroll Field:

The Hours Per Payroll field is used to enter the number of total hours the employee works in a pay period. When calculating a payroll, the number entered in this field is then reflected as the total number of hours worked in the pay period for the employee for the particular pay code.

Note: For additional information on setting up the School Accounting System to track the hours worked for contract and unit employees, refer to the Tracking Hours Worked topic in the Help File.
