Training Tidbit: Microsoft Updates

Did you know that in addition to installing the School Accounting System updates that you should also be installing the latest Microsoft Windows updates on your computer as part of an on-going maintenance routine? If you have not been installing all the Microsoft Windows updates, consult with your Computer Tech or Network Administrator and check Microsoft’s web site to see if there are any updates you need to install.

To check for these updates, if you have Internet Explorer, open it and select the Tools menu; then select Windows Updates. If you do not have Internet Explorer, go to Microsoft’s web site at www.microsoft.com
and click on the link for Windows Updates.

You should install any critical (or high-priority) updates and service packs first and then rescan to see if there are any additional Microsoft Windows updates to install. The process to install Microsoft Windows updates may take a while and have to be completed multiple times if you have never installed any of these updates before or if it has been some time since you did. Just be sure to rescan until there are no more updates listed to be installed.

Tip: Confer with the Computer Tech or Network Administrator at your school district before installing any updates as they may want to be involved and can ensure you have the appropriate rights to complete this process.
