FAQ: An alert appears for In-place Upgrade to SQL Server 2017 Required; what should I do?

In an effort to continue our development at a pace with supported technology, we have upgraded our software to use the latest released version of SQL Server – SQL Server 2017.  In order to ensure that the School Accounting System will function properly, your database will need to undergo an in-place upgrade.  The link below provides instructions to upgrade your local installation of the School Accounting System to SQL Server 2017.  This upgrade applies to the database, and you will see no changes to the user interface.

NOTE:  This upgrade is only applicable to “Onsite” installations of the School Accounting System.  All updates are managed and have already been applied for “Online” customers.

We encourage you to complete this upgrade as soon as possible. The step-by-step instructions only need to be completed once from the workstation or server hosting the School Accounting System database.  Depending on local hardware resources and database size, this upgrade may take up to 30 mins or more and all users should exit the School Accounting System prior running the upgrade.  When ready, follow the instructions found here on the machine hosting the database (or forward to your technology if the database is on a managed server):  https://docs.su-inc.com/support/SQL-Express2017InPlaceUpgrade.pdf
