Training Tidbit: Is there a way to merge two chart of account numbers into one?

Yes, to merge two chart of account numbers into one, complete the Combine Chart of Account Numbers option in General Ledger.  With the Combine Chart of Account Numbers option, all the history of transactions and balances for the specified account numbers are added together.  The Combine Chart of Account Numbers option is accessed under the Options menu from within the Chart of Accounts File.

Note:  Only account numbers in the same fund, of the same account type, and defined with the same Yearly Post Accounts (if applicable) and active status (both active or both inactive) can be combined together.

Below is an example using South Dakota lab data showing two expense accounts that will be combined into one.  The account number entered in the With field will be the one that remains valid after the account numbers have been combined.

For detailed instructions on completing the Combine Account Numbers option, refer to the Combining Chart of Account Numbers topic in the Help File.
