FAQ: Is there anything I need to do concerning the bulk emailing policy changes with Google?

Google has announced policy changes beginning February 1st, 2024.  Per the sender guidelines FAQs, emails will not fail on this date but senders will start receiving automated replies displaying temporary error codes.  Beginning in April 2024, a percentage of non-compliant email traffic will begin being rejected.  Finally, in June 2024, all non-compliant email traffic will be rejected.

In preparation for the policy changes set to take effect in April 2024, the School Accounting System has been updated.  Changes include adding a reply to email address for the email addresses defined within the Email Manager option, and if using the hosted mail server, certain fields being automatically completed with the appropriate information.  For example, sas@notifications.sui-online.com is automatically used in the From Email Address field for an email address defined on the Email Addresses tab within the Email Manager option if using the hosted mail server.

We will continue to assess any error messages and implement additional program modifications, if needed, to enable bulk emails from a hosted email address.  We aim to facilitate a smooth transition for our online users, requiring minimal to no action on your part to achieve compliance.

If desired, the option to configure the School Accounting System to use your district’s mail server rather than our hosted mail server is available.  To change the mail server used within the School Accounting System, edit the information in the General Information section on the General Options tab within the Email Manager option.  If your district utilizes a Google mail server and you would like to change to use the Google mail server to send emails from within the School Accounting System, refer to the Configuring Email Manager for a Google Mail Server topic in the Help File for step-by-step instructions.

Note:  Having the IP addresses specified below as part of your district’s SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record is no longer needed with the recent changes to the School Accounting System:

97.65.91.0/24
207.250.170.0/26
