When opening the School Accounting System a security message occurs. The message says: “Open File – Security Warning: The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?” It does give the option to click “run” which allows the School Accounting System to open. Why does this message occur? Is there something that can be done so that this security message does not display every time SAS is opened?

This message occurs when Internet Explorer 7.0 has been installed on the computer and the School Accounting System is networked. To eliminate the message from appearing each time, enter the path to where the School Accounting System is installed within the Trusted Intranet Sites. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Find the path for where the School Accounting System is installed. To find this information, right-click on the School Accounting System icon of your computer, then select Properties. On the screen that appears after doing this, you will see a “Start in:” field. Copy the path found in this field.
  2. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the Local Intranet screen by clicking on Tools>Internet Options>Security>Local Intranet>Sites>Advanced.
  3. Paste the path that was copied in step 1 into the Add This Website to the Zone field and then click the Add button.
  4. When finished, click the Close button.
