Training Tidbit: Am I able to define how often passwords are required to be changed for School Accounting System and Web Link users?

Yes, you are able to define how often passwords are required to be changed for users accessing the School Accounting System or Web Link module.

To require user passwords for the School Accounting System and Web Link module to be changed after a certain number of days, a user defined as a supervisor or database administrator must complete the following:

  • From the main School Accounting System screen, select the Maintenance menu and then System File.
  • Within the System File, click the Password Policy tab.
  • Enter the number of days for which passwords are valid and then need to be reset in the Days Before User Password Change Required field.  To not have user passwords expire, leave the field blank or enter 0.
  • Click the Save button.
  • Then when a user’s password is within 10 days or less of expiring and needs to be changed, an alert will appear for the user in the Alerts and Information section on the main School Accounting System screen or a message will appear on the Home screen in Web Link; and if the password is not changed prior to it expiring, upon logging in, the user will be prompted to change his/her password.
