FAQ: An employee does not have any leave IDs showing when trying to enter a leave request in Web Link; why?

When an employee is entering a leave request in Web Link and there are not any leave IDs displaying for the employee, check the following items:

  • Verify the leave is set up for the employee and active on the Leaves screen in the Employee File in Payroll.
  • Verify the employee has an email address entered on the Name & Address screen in the Employee File with the Other Communication usage field selected.
  • Verify the employee is selected in the appropriate employee group(s) used with leave requests.  Employee groups are accessed under the Maintenance menu on the Payroll screen.  The employee groups that are utilized with leave requests have the Use with Leave Request Approvals field selected and the Group Manager Approver ID field completed.  (Tip:  Employee groups also display on the Employment screen in the Employee File.)
  • Verify the leave ID is tied to an approval path.  Approval paths are accessed by selecting the Options menu on the Payroll screen, Leave Requests, Leave Request Options, and then clicking the Leave Approval Paths tab on the Leave Request Options screen.  The leaves tied to an approval path display in the Leaves List (located in the upper right side of the screen) with a checkmark in the Selected column.  Review all approval paths to determine if the leave ID is tied to an approval path.
  • Verify the approval path is defined with an approval sequence with either:  Group Manager Approver as the Approval Type; or Specific User as the Approval Type and the appropriate employee group for which the employee is assigned selected.
