FAQ: My district is switching to a different model for TFFR (North Dakota Teachers Retirement); how do I set this up?

If your district is switching to a different model for TFFR (North Dakota Teachers Retirement), you will need to complete all the setup steps as outlined on the applicable handout for the specific model number below (click the appropriate link below):

North Dakota TFFR Model 0 Setup
North Dakota TFFR Model 1 Setup
North Dakota TFFR Model 2 – All Setup
North Dakota TFFR Model 2 – Partial Setup

Note:  The setup instructions for North Dakota TFFR Model 3 are not listed above since school districts are unable to switch to start using Model 3.

Once all the setup steps are completed for the applicable model number (as detailed on the appropriate link above), complete the following:

1)  Inactivate any of the old retirement deductions that are no longer used, if applicable, by removing the checkmark in the Active field in the Deduction File.

2)  Run a test payroll by creating a new calculate payroll batch and selecting the Test Payroll field.

3)  Carefully review the Deduction Register by Employee report (accessed from the Pre-Check Reports option under the Check Cycle menu) and then use the North Dakota TFFR Calculator (click here to access) to balance the figures on the report with the amounts calculated to ensure the amounts for each employee are correct for all the applicable retirement deductions set up for the new model.  (Note:  The North Dakota TFFR Calculator works with the most common web browsers including Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox.)
