Training Tidbit: ND Unemployment Report Electronic Filing Instructions

Did you know the Quarterly Unemployment Report generated within the SQL version of the School Accounting System must be filed electronically via the Internet using North Dakota’s Job Service UIEasy application? The process to file electronically is fairly simple.

Complete the instructions below to generate the report within the School Accounting System and upload the report using North Dakota’s Job Service UIEasy application.

  1. From within the SQL version of the School Accounting System, generate the Quarterly Unemployment Report and complete the Create Report File option (accessed under the Options menu on the North Dakota Unemployment screen).
  2. Access the North Dakota’s Job Service UIEasy website at: https://secure.apps.state.nd.us/jsnd/uiiatax/login.htm and log in as a registered user. (Note: If you are not a registered user, click the Register Now! button on this page to get registered.)
  3. Submit the electronic file by specifying that the file being transmitted is a Fixed Width file.
  4. Enter 0 in the “Skip the first __ lines of the file” field in Step 1 on the screen.
  5. Enter the starting location and length of each field in Step 2 on the screen as follows:
    •SSN: Starting Location of 1 with a Length of 9.
    •Last Name: Starting Location of 10 with a Length of 40.
    •First Name: Starting Location of 50 with a Length of 30.
    •Middle Initial: Starting Location of 80 with a Length of 1.
    •Wage Amount: Starting Location of 81 with a Length of 14.
  6. Select the Implied Decimal option in Step 3 on the screen.
  7. In Step 4 on the screen, click the Browse button to select the file generated from within the School Accounting System.
  8. Once the correct file is specified, click the Import and Continue button to transmit the file.
