Training Tidbit: Are there reports available in Payroll to assist in determining if employees qualify or need to re-qualify for IPERS?

Yes, there are reports available in the Payroll module to assist in determining if employees qualify for IPERS or if there are employees who would have to re-qualify for IPERS.  The two reports that can be used to show this information are the IA Wages Comparison Report and the Employee Deduction Report; each report is described below.

IA Wages Comparison Report:  Print the IA Wages Comparison Report to determine if an employee qualifies for IPERS by earning $1,000 or more in two consecutive quarters.  The IA Wages Comparison Report is accessed from the Government Reporting menu in Payroll, Iowa Monthly Retirement Report, Reports menu.  The report generates based on the Ending Month specified on the Report Options screen of the Iowa Monthly Retirement Report, and will print an asterisk at the end of the line for each employee who qualifies for IPERS and should have the IPERS deduction added to his/her record in the Employee File.

Employee Deduction Report:  Print the Employee Deduction Report to see if someone who is set up with IPERS has had four consecutive quarters of non-payment and so would have to re-qualify for IPERS.  The Employee Deduction Report is accessed from the Reports menu in Payroll, Deduction Reports.  When printing the Deduction Employee Listing to determine if someone needs to re-qualify for IPERS, complete the parameters as follows:  1) specify just your retirement deduction in the Deduction ID parameter; 2) select all Rate Types except ‘Unused’; 3) enter a date of one year ago in the To field for the Last Date Paid parameter; and 4) if desired, complete the Active Employee, Active Employee Deduction, Employee Status, and Pay Group ID parameters.  The report will then print only the employees who would need to re-qualify for IPERS.
